There are very few chapter books that my 7-year old devours. She’s read the first half of all the Magic Treehouse Books but has finished only a few. She liked one or two Beverly Cleary books, but couldn’t get past the first chapters of others. Judy Moody is OK, and she doesn’t like Junie B. Jones.
She loves The Boxcar Children. She adores books by Ronald Dahl. She read each of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books in less than a day. And I can finally add another author to the very short list of what keeps her eyes glued to the page– JK Rowling. It took her only a few days to read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and she’s just started (and nearly halfway through) the second one.
And besides the fact that I’ve found another set of books for my somewhat picky reader to enjoy, I now have a second child as obsessed with all things Harry Potter as my first.
And yea, for me, who loves HP, too
