Why is Barack Obama still asking me for money? He won, right? Is his inauguration being challenged in some way? I’m getting really tired of his emails.
OK, I’ve just unsubscribed. I feel better now.
I don’t know what to say about Gaza. The pictures of dead children are horrible. Why must we kill babies to get a point across? The number of innocent dead is atrocious. The punishment just doesn’t seem to fit the crime, though I’ll agree Hamas is horrible, and needs to be stopped. Soniah is blogging about the situation some. I wonder if we as a society will ever make any progress on how we confront terrorism.
I did figure out how to change my google reader subscription over to my new gmail account. Thank you, Magpie. The next thing I want to do is to take everything in Microsoft Word on my crappy laptop and upload it to google documents. We keep spending $50 here, $50 there to keep my laptop going, but it’s just not worth it anymore. For organization, writing, planning, correspondence, all I use is Google. If Amazon watches my every move, Google surely controls my life.
It amazes me that no matter how old I get, I’m still so afraid of being busted. I went to a library today in a different county than my own. Non-county residents have to pay $20 annually for the privilege of using the library. I decided this morning that I was willing to pay this, because the closest library to me within my county is a good 15 minute drive in a direction I never go, and has terrible service and selection.
I actually already had a library card from this other county, from when I lived there for a brief 3-month stint. But the card had my old address and number, and so I wanted to change it, out myself as an out-0f-county-resident, and just pay the fee. I just can’t take money from a library.
So when I revealed my new residence, the librarian said, “Well, you have this old card, and it works, so just use it.” I was happy to be $20 per year richer, until on my way out, I noticed his “In Training” badge. I guess he didn’t read the memo about out-of-county residents, yet.
Perhaps I’ll get busted the next time around…
I am so with you on the Obama fund raising thing (yes, I did subscribe. . . wanted to stay in the know). The first time it bothered me was when I got an email from Obama folks about helping the DNC retire THEIR debt the day before he used HIS surplus to give big bonuses to his staff. Which they deserved, I’m sure, but if there are bills still to be paid then don’t they come first? Now I am getting the countdown requests for $5 so I can be eligible for the inaguration ticket sweepstakes (my word, not the campaign’s). Which is just strange to me.
I don’t get it. I guess I need to unsubscribe as well.

Yes, and Michelle is sending them too. Is he trying to get her to do some of the dirty work?

Oh, wait a minute. Maybe our next president-elect needs a bail-out, too!

I want to do the same thing with Google Docs but have not investigated it at all– is it relatively easy to do? Is it time-consuming enough to schedule a block of time for? Keep us posted so I can sponge your knowledge
.

Jackie,
To use Google Docs, you need a Google email account. Otherwise, it’s so easy. It’ll take you just a few minutes to figure out because Google Docs looks just like a Microsoft Word page. I write everything in Google Docs, and wherever there is the internet, I can work on it.

I totally agree – I was getting annoyed with all the fundraising emails when daily it was reported that he was at a surplus. Thanks for the details on Google docs – I’m feeling like I’m going to set up some Google docs of my own!

Glad that worked for you!

Shoot- I can’t upload my current files because they’re all in docx format (newest Word), and I’d have to go back save them each individually to Word 97-2003 compatible.
But I can start composing in there, and maybe over the summer do the re-saving and transfer process.
And now I have a gmail address too, which I’ve been meaning to do anyway!

That’s too bad, Jackie. I have such an old version of Word on my home computers, I don’t have that problem.
But yes, you can just start fresh with the new stuff.
I wonder if there are any drawbacks to just using the internet for documents, and not using a word processing program at all??

And now I have Jill Biden asking me to give $100 or more. I don’t think so, the only person who’s getting money today is the guy coming to fix my windshield. Unsubscribe – done!
